Salary Range: $70,000 base salary plus uncapped commission potential

We are actively seeking an Outside Sales Account Manager with fuel industry expertise to join a well-established, privately held distributor in the fuel systems and equipment sector known for its long-standing client relationships and technical expertise! In this role, you will partner closely with executive leadership to expand key accounts, drive revenue growth, and bring a strategic lens to sales in a highly specialized industry.
This is a relationship-driven, consultative sales position where success depends on your ability to understand complex customer needs, navigate projects, and translate industry knowledge into solutions. What You’ll Be Responsible For:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with commercial and industrial fuel clients through consistent outreach and in-person engagement
- Oversee a portfolio of accounts, acting as a trusted advisor on equipment needs, project timelines, and purchasing strategies
- Identify incremental sales opportunities within existing clients while actively pursuing new business across your territory
- Coordinate closely with internal teams to ensure quotes are accurate, timelines are met, and customer expectations are consistently exceeded
- Translate customer requirements into tailored solutions leveraging your knowledge of fuel systems and applications
- Analyze sales performance data and customer trends to refine your approach and improve margin outcomes
- Share real-time market feedback with leadership to influence pricing, inventory, and product direction
- Monitor competitor activity and industry developments to proactively position the company for growth
- Prepare detailed forecasts, pipeline updates, and performance reports for leadership review
- Consistently deliver on sales targets by executing a disciplined, relationship-focused sales strategy
To Be Successful in This Role, You'll Bring:
- 2+ years working in the fuel system or fuel products industry (required), with a solid understanding of customer applications and equipment.
- 3+ years of successful sales experience, preferably in an outside or account management capacity.
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, juggle multiple accounts, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven skill working with cross-functional partners such as Sales, Project Management, and Warehouse teams to deliver seamless customer service.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a clear preference for picking up the phone first and using email to confirm details.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and comfort working within ERP systems; experience with Epicor Prophet 21 is a plus.
- Willingness and ability to travel to customer locations, along with the physical capability to work in an office environment using a computer, phone, and related equipment for extended periods.
- Dependable, punctual working style with high attention to detail and a strong analytical, problem-solving mindset.
