Job Description

Job Description
Inbound Receiving and Materials Handling Specialist

Join Eaton’s EPG CHD EP Americas division in Roanoke, VA and help keep our operations running smoothly each evening. This role anchors our inbound flow — from the moment a shipment arrives until it’s safely stored and recorded in our systems.

A day in your (second-shift) life

At 3:30 p.m., you’ll gear up and review the inbound queue. Pallets arrive; you confirm counts, scan barcodes with a handheld RF unit, and direct materials to the right location. You move fluidly between stand-up and sit-down forklifts and an electric pallet jack, staging goods precisely where SAP/WMS expects them. You complete safety and equipment checklists, tidy as you go to uphold 5S standards, and stay in sync with your team lead and peers. By midnight, everything received is accounted for — safe, accurate, and ready for production.

Compensation and schedule
  • Core hours: 3:30 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
  • Hourly pay: $21.51 plus a $1.25/hour shift differential.

Compensation details are provided as a guideline; final pay will reflect your experience, skills, qualifications, and market/business considerations.

What you’ll do
  • Verify, handle, and sort incoming shipments; relocate goods to preassigned storage locations.
  • Operate multiple types of powered industrial trucks (stand-up/sit-down forklifts, electric pallet jack).
  • Use RF scanners to capture product and location barcodes with accuracy.

  • Communicate effectively with your supervisor for direction and with teammates to share expertise.
  • Meet established productivity and quality targets.
  • Maintain housekeeping and safety standards in line with 5S methodology.
Minimum qualifications
  • 6 months of reach truck experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable standing for up to 10 hours.
  • Capable of continuous arm movement during tasks.
Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities Knowledge
  • English language proficiency, including grammar and composition.
