Empower Recovery Through Integrated Treatment – Join Us as a Co-Occurring Disorder Specialist

As a Co-Occurring Disorder Specialist, you'll work as part of a multidisciplinary team within one of our specialized Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) programs, providing evidence-based care to individuals navigating both mental illness and substance use disorders. Your work will help clients build stability, self-sufficiency, and long-term wellness through a highly personalized, team-driven approach.

About ACT/ACT TAY/STEPS
ACT (Assertive Community Treatment)/ACT TAY (Assertive Community Treatment for Transitional-Aged Youth)/STEPS (Shape, Teach, Evolve, Prepare, Support)
  programs are a way of providing many types of service to people with chronic mental health disorders. ACT/STEPS teams provide services directly to people in their community. People who access ACT/STEPS services receive the wrap-around psychiatric services, but within the comfort of their own home and community. ACT/STEPS team members are comprised of professionals in the areas of psychiatry, social work, nursing, substance use disorders, supported employment, and peer support so they have the skills they need to meet the many needs of the people they serve. The ACT/STEPS team provides these services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, each day of the year.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized co-occurring treatment using evidence-based methods like motivational interviewing, CBT, and relapse prevention
  • Conduct comprehensive substance use assessments that consider mental health and trauma histories
  • Offer both individual and group counseling tailored to stage of change and treatment readiness
  • Collaborate in creating and reviewing wellness plans as part of the ACT team
  • Cross-train team members on dual diagnosis best practices and consult on complex cases
  • Participate in clinical supervision and attend daily team and treatment planning meetings
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with agency policies
  • Provide services in community-based settings and assist with client transportation as needed; driving is an essential function of this position

Requirements, Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
High School/GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree required unless otherwise approved by DMH
  • Master's Degree, if applying as a therapist
WORK EXPERIENCE
  • At least one (1) year of training or supervised experience in substance use treatment is required*
     *If less than one year, must be actively acquiring 24 hours of co-occurring disorder training and receiving approved supervision
  • A valid driver's license and agency-established minimum automobile coverage required

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
One of the following is required:
  • Qualified Addiction Professional credential (CADC, CRADC, CRAADC, CCDP, or CCJP – Missouri)
    OR
  • Licensed therapist in Missouri (PLPC, LPC, LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, or PLMFT)
