Job Description
Location: Syracuse, NY 13210
Duration: 14 Weeks
Schedule: Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours: 12 hours/day | 3 days/week | 36 hours/week
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for an Emergency Float Pool assignment at a high-acuity, Level 1 trauma care facility.
The ideal candidate will have strong patient care experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced emergency environment. This role requires flexibility, teamwork, and a strong commitment to patient-centered care while supporting clinical staff in both direct and indirect patient care activities.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care, including:
- Obtaining and recording vital signs
- Assisting with bathing, toileting, and feeding
- Supporting activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Serve as a safety companion for patients identified as at risk
- Monitor and promptly report changes in patient condition to nursing staff
- Maintain accurate documentation and clear communication regarding patient care
- Collaborate effectively with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organized patient care environment
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
- Demonstrate professionalism, ethical judgment, and compassionate care
- Current New York State CNA Certification
- Active BLS Certification
- Minimum 1 year of patient care experience
- Experience working in a Level 1 trauma care setting
- At least 2 years of experience assisting with ADLs
- Experience as a patient safety companion/sitter
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Must successfully complete pre-employment health clearance
- Experience in an Emergency Department (ED) or Float Pool
- Prior exposure to trauma care settings
