Position Summary: Network Engineer

Location: Nashua, NH

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical cables for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We are currently seeking a Mechanical Integrity Engineer to join our Cable Assembly team. The position will be located in Nashua, New Hampshire.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Network Engineer to design, implement, and support high-performance data networking solutions across lab environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring network reliability, performance, and security across Ethernet and routing technologies, and will partner with cross-functional teams to validate customer use cases and resolve complex issues.

  • Design, implement, and maintain network architectures (spine-leaf and AI-fabric topologies) using switching, routing, and transport technologies.
  • Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot Ethernet/IP networks (L2/L3) including VLANs, spanning tree, routing, QoS, and related protocols.
  • Diagnose complex performance and connectivity issues across TCP/IP and optical transport layers using packet captures, logs, telemetry, and structured troubleshooting methodologies (OSI model).
  • Plan and execute network changes, maintenance activities, and incident response; document root cause analysis (RCA) and drive corrective/preventive actions.
  • Develop and maintain network documentation including diagrams, physical/logical topology, IP plans, and runbooks (e.g., Visio).
  • Build and maintain a lab network environment with hardware and software matching known customer use cases; support interoperability, regression, and failure-mode testing.
  • Perform DAC, ACC, and AEC cable validation including characterization impairments, cleaning/inspection practices, and coordination of remediation activities.
  • Use ticketing systems and operational tools to track work, prioritize issues, and communicate status to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and customer teams to translate requirements into network designs, validate solutions, and support product/customer escalations.
  • Automate repetitive operational tasks and data collection using scripting (preferably Python) to improve reliability and speed of delivery.
  • Ensure network solutions and lab practices align with relevant industry standards and specifications (IEEE/ANSI) and internal operational guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in related fields
  • 3-5 years of professional experience
  • Experience with server technologies
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Broadcom, Keysight, Viavi
  • Experience with PCIe, DAC, AEC, and AOC testing
  • Understanding of datacenter architectures such as spine-leaf and AI-fabric designs
  • Demonstrated CCNA/CCNP-level proficiency in configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining networks.
  • Understanding of specifications such as EIA-364-X, GR-468-X, GR-78-X etc.
  • Understanding of how to perform testing and complex data analysis
  • Ability to communicate with technical & non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, and suppliers in person, on the phone, and through written communication in a clear, straightforward, and professional manner
  • Ability to use a personal computer and common software applications
  • Advanced data networking knowledge (OSI model, TCP/IP, optical transport)
  • Advanced knowledge of fiber characterization and associated optical impairments
  • Advanced knowledge of related industry specifications and standards (IEEE, ANSI) and fiber/media types (multimode, single mode, UTP), including bridging, switching, routing, Ethernet, and transport technologies and protocols
  • Advanced knowledge of network design, network architecture, protocols, and network topology
  • Advanced knowledge of using ticketing systems and software tools to support current operations
  • Advanced knowledge of basic network devices and basic network appliances
  • Advanced knowledge of network design software, such as Visio
  • Ability to perform duties in a fast-paced environment and learn new technology quickly
  • Knowledge of or experience with one or more programming/scripting languages, preferably Python
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in a team environment
