Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
Location: Mashpee, MA
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift
Hours: Full-Time
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (may vary based on departmental needs)
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join a clinical laboratory team. This position is responsible for performing laboratory testing, specimen processing, quality control activities, equipment maintenance, and result reporting while ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
Requirements:
Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) designation or equivalent laboratory training and experience.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Demonstrated reliability, initiative, and attention to detail.
Must meet one of the following:
Associate Degree in Science and/or completion of an approved Medical Laboratory Technology program or internship; OR
Registration as a Medical Laboratory Technician through ASCP or NCA (preferred); OR
High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two years of clinical laboratory experience following laboratory-specific training.
Recent Core Laboratory experience preferred.
Epic Beaker experience preferred.
Knowledge of CLIA regulations and laboratory accreditation requirements preferred.
Strong computer and laboratory information system skills preferred.
Responsibilities:
Perform clinical laboratory testing in accordance with laboratory procedures and physician orders.
Collect venous and capillary blood specimens as required.
Receive, process, label, and prepare specimens from inpatient and outpatient settings.
Package and coordinate specimen shipments to reference laboratories.
Prioritize testing requests based on clinical urgency.
Verify test orders and communicate with providers when clarification is needed.
Prepare reagents, standards, controls, and testing materials.
Set up, calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
Complete and document routine equipment maintenance activities.
Participate in proficiency testing and quality assurance initiatives.
Maintain compliance with CLIA, safety, infection control, and departmental standards.
Accurately record, transcribe, and report laboratory results.
Communicate critical laboratory values promptly to providers and care teams.
Utilize laboratory information systems and electronic medical records effectively.
Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering laboratory supplies.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe laboratory workspaces.
Assist with orientation and training of new staff and students.
Collaborate with providers, nurses, office staff, and laboratory personnel.
Participate in ongoing education and professional development activities.
