Description:

The Teen Health Educator is responsible for delivering engaging, age-appropriate health education to adolescents in schools, community centers, and other youth-serving environments. This role focuses on promoting physical, emotional, and social well-being among teens through interactive workshops, peer education, and outreach initiatives. The Teen Health Educator works collaboratively with youth, families, educators, and community partners to address topics such as mental health, nutrition, substance use prevention, sexual health, healthy relationships, and self-care.


Essential Functions

  • Facilitate educational presentations utilizing the evidence-based curricula: Teen Outreach Program (in middle schools), Personal Responsibility and Education Program (in high schools), and Teen Speak (in Community Based Organizations or virtual platforms) throughout northern NJ
  • Coordinate Community Service Learning (CSL) opportunities to cohorts (Teen Outreach Program and Personal Responsibility and Education Program)
  • Maintain professional relationships with partner schools and organizations within target area
  • Administer, gather, and track data for the project implementation and evaluation through the following forms: Parent Consent Forms, pre and post surveys, attendance tracking, etc.
  • Conduct necessary marketing and outreach for cohort recruitment
  • Promote the teen health programs at health fairs, meetings, and events throughout the year
  • Attend all required TA/trainings, meetings, conference calls, webinars, and activities

Requirements:

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in public health, health sciences, or related fields is required, CHES is preferred
  • Experience facilitating group presentations/workshops with community populations is required
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish required
  • Demonstrated understanding of public health issues is required, focus in protective factors, trauma-informed care, and positive youth development is preferred
  • Experience working with teen populations is preferred
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
