Construction Laborer / Flagger

The Diamond B Construction Laborer is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of assigned area. The laborer is usually part of a crew and will report to the Superintendent. The laborer performs tasks involving physical labor at highway construction projects. May operate hand and power tools of all types as well as other equipment and instruments.

The Laborer may clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, clean up rubble and debris, shovel asphalt, rake asphalt and operate equipment such as a sweeper. Lifting and moving cones and traffic signs as well as assisting equipment operators are common responsibilities of the position. Other duties will be assigned according to organizational needs, and individual’s skill and experience.

The Laborer must have the ability to stand, walk stoop and squat. Having enough range of motion that will permit the Laborer to work in a variety of postures involving a range from floor to shoulder level is required. The Laborer will stand for extended periods of time and must demonstrate that he/she can safely lift material weighing up to 40 lbs. from floor to shoulder level.
