Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Recovery Specialist / Medical Collections Specialist to join our growing team in Selden, NY. This role is responsible for managing insurance follow-up, denials management, patient collections, and account reconciliation to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of medical billing and collections processes, understands insurance claim resolution, and can professionally communicate with both patients and insurance carriers while maintaining compliance with HIPAA  guidelines.

Responsibilities

Insurance Follow-Up & Denials Management

• Contact insurance carriers regarding pending, denied, rejected, or underpaid claims
• Research denied claims and prepare formal appeals with supporting documentation
• Track appeals and follow claims through resolution
• Work to maximize reimbursement and reduce outstanding balances

Patient Billing & Collections

• Communicate directly with patients regarding balances, deductibles, copays, and payment options
• Negotiate payment arrangements and resolve account disputes professionally
• Process payments and maintain accurate account documentation

Account Reconciliation

• Review billing systems, EOBs, remittance advice, and adjustment reports
• Ensure accurate account balances and proper coding adjustments
• Resolve discrepancies and maintain accurate financial records

Compliance & Documentation

• Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA and company policies
• Accurately document account activity and collection efforts
• Protect confidential patient and financial information at all times

Qualifications

• Previous medical collections or medical billing experience required
• Experience handling insurance follow-up and denied claims
• Knowledge of EOBs, insurance billing, and reimbursement processes
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations
• Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities efficiently
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
