Position Summary

Responsible for fabricating and assembling basic tubing components used in air, fuel, oil, hydraulic, and related systems for aircraft and spacecraft. Work is performed using hand tools, power tools, semi-automatic rotary draw tube bending machines, measuring instruments, and related equipment. The role operates under direct supervision or guidance from experienced team members.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience in tubing preparation, degreasing using solvents or aqueous methods, and preparing tubing components for bending or transport
  • Ability to obtain a certified operator stamp within one year
  • Experience performing rigid tube processes, waterspider processes, and saw cell processes with limited assistance
  • Basic math skills and effective verbal, written, and computer skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, route sheets, procedures, and specifications
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and reasoning skills
  • Ability to work accurately within precise tolerances and standards
  • Familiarity with standard business software and automated systems (such as internal tracking systems and email)
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Ability to participate in continuous improvement / lean initiatives


Primary Responsibilities

  • Read work orders, blueprints, sketches, bend data charts, and tubing templates to determine tubing specifications
  • Establish trim lines and determine part relationships using templates and measuring systems
  • Set up and operate manual and power machines to cut, form, swage, flare, and deburr tubing
  • Perform single bend operations using semi-automatic tube bending equipment
  • Attach fittings such as nuts, sleeves, collars, and caps using hand tools and machines
  • Align, fit, and assemble tubing components in jigs and fixtures for welding preparation
  • Inspect tubing components using measuring equipment including height gauges, calipers, bevel protractors, ball gauges, fixtures, CMM, and Aicon systems
  • Perform pressure testing to identify leaks or defects
  • Mark tubing components with identification using electro-chemical etching or labeling methods
  • Clean, lubricate, and remove minor imperfections from tubing assemblies using approved methods


Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in lean initiatives and process improvement activities
  • Assist in training less experienced team members when required
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment free from foreign object debris (FOD)
  • Ensure equipment is properly calibrated according to schedule
  • Operate bump machine as required


Physical & Work Environment

  • Frequent movement throughout the manufacturing facility to operate machinery
  • Operation of manual machining equipment, tools, and testing equipment
  • Ability to inspect parts for accuracy and defects
  • Must be able to lift or move items up to 10 lbs up to 30 feet
  • Exposure to solvents, lubricants, and varying temperature or humidity conditions may occur
  • Must maintain regular attendance and professional collaboration with team members
