Job Title: Manufacturing Maintenance Technician

Location: Sumter, SC 29153

Pay: $22.50/hour

Schedule: 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off rotating schedule. 8:00 PM - 8:00 AM. Schedule repeats continuously, Monday through Sunday.

Employment Type: W2 12-Month Assignment with high potential for extension or conversion to a permanent position based on business needs. Benefits are available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment.

Job Overview

We are seeking a Manufacturing Maintenance Technician to support manufacturing operations for a global leader in medical technology and healthcare solutions. This role is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing production equipment to help ensure efficient manufacturing operations and consistent product quality. The technician will perform preventative maintenance, monitor equipment performance, complete quality checks, maintain production records, and support continuous production activities while following established safety, quality, and regulatory requirements. Candidates should possess strong mechanical aptitude and be comfortable working independently while collaborating with production and maintenance teams in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, optimize, and maintain assigned production equipment
  • Meet production standards while maintaining product quality requirements
  • Minimize equipment downtime and support waste reduction goals
  • Maintain accurate equipment logs and document downtime and maintenance issues
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities on production equipment
  • Start up equipment and verify proper operation and functionality
  • Monitor component inventories and ensure safety guards are properly maintained
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly production environment
  • Monitor in-process quality and address issues as needed
  • Perform required quality control checks and process challenges
  • Follow all safety procedures, environmental requirements, and quality system standards
  • Support upstream and downstream manufacturing operations
  • Perform rework activities as required
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Maintenance repair or mechanical experience required
  • Two years of mechanical experience preferred
  • 6-12 months of manufacturing experience preferred
  • Experience working with PLCs, hydraulics, and pneumatics preferred
  • Proficiency with basic hand tools required
  • Familiarity with bushings, chain drives, conveyors, gearboxes, and ball valves
  • Familiarity with sensors, photo-eyes, scales, reed switches, and VFDs
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work any shift as needed
  • Must have clear and legible handwriting

Additional Requirements

  • Steel toe shoes are required
  • Ability to work a rotating 12-hour overnight schedule
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing production environment
