Journeyman Carpenter

Journeyman carpenters specialize in the construction of wooden infrastructure, including layout, cutting rafters and stair stringers, side walling, and roofing. Their responsibilities include building new wooden structures, as well as renovating and remodeling existing wooden infrastructure. To ensure success as a journeyman carpenter, you should be able to interpret architectural blueprints and ensure the safety and quality of the final product. Ultimately, a top-notch journeyman carpenter should show exceptional attention to detail and have excellent analytical thinking abilities.
 

Responsibilities:

• Reading and interpreting building plans.
• Must be able to complete work abiding by national, state, and local codes, including safety regulations.
• Constructing and installing wooden structures including but not limited to framework, stairways, rafters, doors, windows, trim, railings, and built ins. 
• Must be able to accurately measure and cut materials appropriately. 
• Collaborate with team members to ensure that the project is running smoothly.
• Ability to notify Construction Superintendent, Foreman, and Project Manager of any issues that may arise.
• Work independently without much instruction.
• Must have own tools and reliable transportation.
• Must have a strong attention to detail.

Requirements:

• 2-4 years of prior experience.
• A valid Drivers License and reliable transportation.
• Own a full set of tools.
• Must be able to lift 80 lbs.
• Strong attention to detail and a strong commitment to high quality of work. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Capable of working long hours in harsh weather conditions.
• Good math and problem-solving skills.
• OSHA 10 certification.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 80 pounds.
• Physically fit and able to perform various tasks that include standing, climbing, lifting, walking, reaching, crawling, etc.
