Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Truck Driver - Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This dual-role position is responsible for operating heavy equipment and commercial motor vehicles in support of construction and job site operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience operating equipment including bulldozers, excavators, skid steers, tractors, and loaders, as well as commercial vehicles such as pickup trucks with trailers, dump trucks, end dumps, lowboys, and other CMVs as required.
Key responsibilities include safely operating and transporting equipment to and from job sites, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, conducting routine maintenance checks, and ensuring all equipment and vehicles are operated in compliance with company safety standards and FMCSA regulations.
The successful candidate will be reliable, safety-focused, mechanically aware, and able to communicate equipment needs, maintenance concerns, and job site issues effectively.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment including bulldozers, excavators, skid steers, tractors, and loaders
- Safely operate commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) including dump trucks, lowboys, trailers, and other hauling equipment
- Transport equipment and materials to and from job sites
- Perform pre-trip/post-trip inspections and routine equipment maintenance
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA/FMCSA regulations
- Read and interpret road signs, traffic laws, project plans, and site specifications
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, crew members, and dispatch personnel
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and perform general housekeeping duties on trucks and equipment
- Work independently while contributing positively to a team-oriented work environment
- Support company values by maintaining professionalism, reliability, and respectful workplace conduct
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Valid Class A CDL required
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Experience operating heavy equipment in a construction or similar environment
- Experience hauling heavy equipment and trailers
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations and safe driving practices
- Ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and safety procedures
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds
- Strong communication skills and mechanical awareness
Work Environment
- Work is performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Regular exposure to loud noise, vibration, dust, dirt, and airborne particles
- Occasional exposure to hazardous materials and chemicals
- Frequent operation of heavy machinery and commercial vehicles on active job sites
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods
- Ability to enter and exit heavy equipment and commercial vehicles repeatedly throughout the day
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 60 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying environmental conditions
