Job Title: Production Manager

Job Description

The Production Manager apprentices under the guidance of the Plant Manager to enhance overall facility operations, including receiving and sorting product, laundering, drying, ironing, folding, and preparing items for transport to customers. This role creates and manages production schedules, ensures safe and efficient use of industrial laundry equipment, and actively supports a collaborative, hands-on culture on the production floor.

Responsibilities

  • Spend time working and learning in all departments to fully understand procedures and culture, including sorting, loading, washing, drying, sanitizing, ironing, folding, packaging, counting, maintenance, recording production quantities, and operating industrial laundry equipment.
  • Create detailed production schedules in partnership with the Plant Manager and department supervisors to ensure all customer deadlines are consistently met.
  • Fill in for supervisors or the Plant Manager as directed, assuming supervisory responsibilities to maintain smooth plant operations.
  • Ensure that work conditions remain safe and that all machinery operates in optimum condition for both worker safety and production efficiency, while proactively promoting safe working practices.
  • Serve as a role model for a collaborative work style and encourage open, candid communication between management staff, supervisors, and production employees.
  • Manage production output by working closely with other department supervisors, consistently measuring, monitoring, and assessing production results.
  • Spend a significant portion of time observing plant operations on the production floor, learning through hands-on experiences, and participating in activities with the Plant Manager.
  • Analyze operational and production data, and produce clear, accurate reports as requested by the Plant Manager.
  • Identify and implement innovations within each department to improve ergonomic practices, safety practices, productivity, communication between management and production employees, and overall product quality.
  • Remain flexible and rotate through any and all departments as needed, serving as supervisor and providing leadership wherever required to support production continuity.
  • Support and enhance supervisory procedures and production management processes, focusing on continuous process improvement and job preparation.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without an accommodation.
  • At least 5 years of supervisory experience in a similar production environment that utilizes industrial equipment.
  • Experience in a laundry or closely related industry is strongly preferred.
  • Solid working knowledge of OSHA standards and related workplace safety requirements.
  • Understanding of workers’ compensation issues and light duty practices.
  • Demonstrated collaborative yet strong management style, with comfort interacting with hourly employees on a regular basis.
  • Proven ability to develop, manage, and adjust production schedules while effectively measuring and evaluating output.
  • Creative mindset with openness to new ideas and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and tasks effectively.
  • Comfort working in a hands-on environment, spending approximately 90% of the time on the production floor.
  • Willingness and ability to relocate as needed to complete developmental assignments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree strongly desired, preferably in an engineering or technical discipline.
  • Experience with process improvement in a production or industrial setting.
  • Experience in production supervision and production management.
  • Familiarity with supervisory procedures and job preparation in an industrial environment.
  • Strong communication skills to foster effective dialogue between management and production employees.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and prepare clear, concise reports for leadership.

Work Environment

This role operates primarily on a first-shift schedule within an industrial laundry production facility. The position is highly hands-on, with approximately 90% of the time spent in active production areas, collaborating closely with hourly staff and supervisors. Safety and adherence to OSHA standards are central to daily operations, and equipment is maintained to support both safe and efficient workflows.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $34.00/hr.
