JOB DESCRIPTION:

Andersen is seeking an experienced engineer to join our Engineered Materials Extrusion team in Bayport, MN. This role will play a key part in advancing our manufacturing capabilities by providing daily operations support, leading equipment upgrades, supporting new product launches, and driving continuous improvement within our vinyl extrusion operations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and/or support project teams on the successful commercialization and start-up of new fabrication equipment and processes.

  • Interface with design, product engineering, supply chain, and other business partners on the design for manufacturability, process capability of new product or extensions.

  • Provide recommendations regarding the viability of developed design solutions that relate to new or current processes.

  • Facilitate cross-functional team meetings, kaizens, and Process System Design events.

  • Ensure built in quality by using DMAIC tools: Process mapping, process capability, C&E Matrix, fishbone diagram, FMEA, MSA, DOE, Control Plans.

  • Develop specifications to procure production equipment and/or complete production lines.

  • Partner with the Safety Teams to ensure all new or modified processes meet or exceed corporate safety requirements.

  • Create training tools, documents and standard operating procedures for production processes ensuring consistent manufacturability.

  • Introduce new perspectives on existing solutions to continuously improve production and material flow processes.

  • Provideoperational technical support for existing applications and processes.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

MUST HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering or equivalent engineering experience.

  • 3-5+ years of engineering experience with mechanical aptitude.

  • Demonstrated project planning experience.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and influence decision-making.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional partners, customers, and suppliers, fostering collaboration and alignment.

  • Knowledge and experience with quality systems, statistical process control, process capability and lean manufacturing tools.

  • 2D & 3D CAD Experience

NICE-TO-HAVE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of DMAIC analyses and problem-solving approaches

  • Experience with change management strategies

  • Experience in thermoplastic extrusion

  • Proficiency in statistical analysis (such as design of experiments) along with statistical software

PROFIT SHARING: In 2026 Andersen has set a profit-sharing target of $3,600 per eligible employee, prorated as appropriate. Profit Sharing will be paid out in quarterly installments to provide eligible employees with payments throughout the year, with payment amounts tied to quarterly operating profit performance.
