SUMMARY:
Our client, a Virginia-based law firm, is seeking an Associate Attorney- Workers' Compensation to join its workers' compensation litigation practice in Richmond. This is a long-term opportunity for an attorney with litigation experience who is passionate about advocating for injured workers. The role involves handling a full caseload from intake through resolution, including hearings and trial preparation, in a collaborative and client-focused environment.
RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Manage a caseload of workers' compensation matters from intake through resolution
- Handle all aspects of litigation including pleadings, motions, discovery, and hearings
- Represent clients at administrative hearings, depositions, and court proceedings
- Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, and other legal documents
- Lead settlement negotiations with insurance carriers and opposing counsel
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients regarding case status and strategy
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure efficient case management
- Assist in trial preparation and case strategy development
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in Virginia (or eligibility to obtain)
- Minimum 3-5 years of litigation experience, preferably in workers' compensation or personal injury
- Strong experience handling hearings, motions practice, and case management
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Strong negotiation and client advocacy skills
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload independently
