American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) float pool position at a Level 2 Trauma teaching hospital in Rome, GA, requiring ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and PCU specialty experience.
Details- Float pool position covering all Med/Surg and critical care areas, including ED boarders, ICU, and ER as needed
- Level 2 Trauma designated teaching hospital with a residency program, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center
- PCU patient population includes chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, CHF, ACS, A-Fib, syncope, sepsis, stroke, and acute respiratory conditions
- Arrhythmia monitoring and cardiac titratable drip management are core responsibilities of this role
- EMR: Epic (experience preferred)
- 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
- 24 standard hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- On-call may be requested in low-census situations, though this is rare
- Coverage required for 70% of assigned holidays
- Active RN license — GA or Compact license required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required; CPI required (facility will provide if candidate does not have it)
- Minimum 2 years of PCU or telemetry RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Experience with arrhythmia monitoring and cardiac titratable drips required
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Supported by CNAs/nurse techs, respiratory therapists, phlebotomists, educators, safety sitters, Virtual Patient Observers (VPO), Virtual RN, and security
- Department equipment includes Glucommander, cardiac monitors, Precision BBG monitor, BiPap, ventilators, Alaris pumps, and specialty beds
- Foley catheter placement requires 2 nurses per facility policy
- Orientation includes the first week of NEO (Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM) followed by 2–3 days of departmental orientation on the floor
- Navy scrubs required
- Free parking available on-site
- Department culture emphasizes teamwork, proactive communication, and timely telemetry response
- First-time travelers will be considered, though not preferred
- Candidates who previously held a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
