Position Title: 2nd/3rd Resident Care Manager       OT Status: Exempt

Reports to: Director of Resident Care 

Direct Reports: MCG’s, PCG’s and Supervisors

o Staff evaluations- annually (2nd /3rd shift employees). FT Supervisors are to assist with the staff that work their shift. Manager is responsible for overseeing the process and making sure that all employees have been evaluated.

o Overseeing processes: (It is your responsibility to make sure that ALL staff are trained properly.

§ MCG- all staff should feel comfortable with assigned job duties

§ PCG- all staff should feel comfortable with assigned job duties 3rd Shift –assigning set tasks and then making sure that they are being followed

§ Developing Supervisors for all shifts

§ Keep employees on task/updating a task list to ensure productivity.

o Building appearance: 

§ Nursing stations- should always have a professional appearance, be functional and organized

§ Storage rooms- make sure that all supplies are put away in labeled areas and are clean and tidy(supervisor assists)

§ Resident rooms- daily checks (make sure that rooms are picked up, extra cups/newspapers, beds made properly, bathrooms/toilets are clean.

o Equipment Checks: 

§ B/P cuffs- make sure that cuffs are in good condition, that dial is calibrated (lined up on “0”).

§ Med Carts- delegate cleaning/ taking out expired meds to a staff member and then follow through to make sure that task is being performed.

§ Thermometers- make sure that all med carts have a working thermometer

§ Computers- make sure that staff are plugged them in the hallways to charge when working at PVP, make sure that staff are not plugging cell phones, etc…into the computers, make sure there is no food/beverages next to the computers.

§ Whirlpools/showers- make sure that they are being cleaned/sanitized after each bath/shower. 

§ Sit-to-stands- make sure that they are being cleaned/sanitized, that they are in good working order.

§ Scales- make sure that they are calibrated by leveling out to zero and it being balanced. If not, inform Director for repair.

o Regular meetings with staff & staff meetings with Supervisors

o Overseeing scheduling needs- It is your responsibility to make sure that staff are appropriately placed on their skill set, that there is always a FT employee working every shift, that the female-to-male ratio is appropriate for the building (must always be a female working each shift), and that an appropriate number of employees are scheduled.

§ Monitoring overtime 

o Staffing:

§ Making sure both building and staff are doing well before leaving at the end of your work day. Make sure that you tell the lead staff member that you are leaving for the day.

§ Monitoring staff/resident ratio (Updating Director if changes need to be made (increase/decrease) with staffing ratio.

o Create a ratio with staff/resident for each building and shift to follow

§ Taking charge/claiming authority with all staff and making expectations clear and creating boundaries that are clear to all employees. MAKE IT VERY EASY FOR STAFF TO DO THE RIGHT THING.

§ Managers are to interview and hire for both MCG and PCG 

o Working well with other departments:

§ H.R.- update with staffing concerns/ staff write-ups

§ Maintenance- following up with building concerns

o Documenting any staff/family conversations that could lead to potential problems in the future or if you may have to revisit those conversations.

o State Licensing: be up to date on state rules/regulations; educate staff and enforce rules and guidelines. (incident reports, elopement procedure, med orders)(Clinical Specialist, Clinical Support & Director update processes)

o Availability- on call at all times of the day and night and need to be accessible to staff by phone. If there are any concerns with this requirement at any time it must be communicated with the Director.

§ Managers are to respond to all emails in a timely manner and must be checking their email more than once a day.

§ Managers vacations- If Director approved vacation time then it is the Managers responsibility to make sure that all tasks are handled and that someone has been assigned to handle concerns while the manager is gone (Director approved) or the Manager will be expected to handle concerns via phone/email.

o Park Village Pines Policies - be up to date with all work policies and is obligated to hold the employees to each policy. Adheres to HIPAA regulations including not discussing residents with other departments.

o Be available to work weekends and holidays as needed

Requirements:

  

Job Requirements for Scheduling: 

o Manages schedules for all three buildings for 2nd and 3rd shifts – follow scheduling template

o Fill open needs on schedule for 2nd/3rd shifts (Supervisor’s assist).

o Regular updates with call-ins and schedule to Director of Resident Care.

o Monitor overtime and alert Director when staff are close to OT hours.

o Making sure that all shifts are covered before leaving at the end of the day.

o Assist Director of Resident Care with staff meetings.

o Maintain Paylocity schedules.

o That there is always a FT employee working every shift (work with staff manager).

o That the female-to-male ratio is appropriate for the building (must always be a female working each shift- work with staff manager).

o Be available to work weekends and holidays as needed.

o Schedule staff training, including MCG and PCG reviews.

o Review the scheduling process and keep the most current schedule in your possession.

o Discuss scheduling concerns with staff.

o Work with the Director to update the scheduling template as staffing changes arise and new staff are hired or terminated

o Create and maintain holiday schedule.

o Payroll- verify hours against schedule and approve PTO.

Physical Requirements:

o Lift and carry light objects such as resident charts, thermometers, basins and resident care items without assistance.

o Lift, push/pull 50lbs+, assisting residents to/from their rooms.

o Stand or walk up to 90% of an eight-hour shift.

o Reach overhead occasionally to obtain items from shelves/closets.

o Able to wear gloves and other protective equipment.

o Hearing, seeing and reading skills are required to comprehend directions, identification of residents, emergency alarms and use of equipment.

o Attention span necessary to complete required tasks.

Environmental Conditions:

o 100% of workday is spent indoors – however, in good weather, an assistant may accompany a resident outdoors for a walk, etc.

o Occasional exposure to blood/bodily fluids.

o Frequent exposure to bacteria, viruses, and other infectious agents in dealing with residents, co-workers, family and the public

o Performs other reasonable related duties as assigned by the Director and other management as required

o Occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals such as soap, disinfectants, etc., as identified by KACRA’s MSDS manual.

o Frequent exposure to latex, vinyl, plastic, or materials used in personal protective equipment.

o Frequent exposure to injuries due to the unpredictable behaviour of residents.

o Able to push approximately up to a 100-pound cart on casters 392 feet (length of hallway) on carpeted floor
