Position Overview
Petersen Brothers Construction is looking for a dynamic experienced Estimator to join our preconstruction team. A person in this position is responsible for providing overall on-site leadership for the team including supervision, schedule and financial management, subcontractor relations, and other related activities.
We are looking for an Estimator to play a pivotal role in our preconstruction phase. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs, analyzing specifications, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure accurate pricing. A person in this position will work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to develop comprehensive and detailed cost estimates.
Key Responsibilities
- Cost Estimation
- Utilize industry-standard methods to prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to determine scope, materials, and labor requirements.
- Conduct thorough take-offs and quantify materials, labor, and equipment costs.
- Proposal Preparation
- Prepare comprehensive pricing proposals.
- Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain accurate and up-to-date pricing information.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure completeness and competitiveness.
- Team Involvement
- Providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative work environment with a team of preconstruction professionals
- Conduct training sessions and ensure the team is up-to-date with the latest industry trends and estimating techniques.
- Risk Assessment
- Identify and assess potential risks and opportunities associated with project estimates.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to develop strategies to mitigate risks and enhance project success.
- Client and Stakeholder Communication
- Communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and expectations.
- Participate in kickoff meetings, site visits, and client presentations as necessary.
Qualifications
Required
- 5 years' of estimating experience in the construction industry.
- Strong proficiency in construction estimating software and tools.
- Excellent knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
- 5 years' of estimating experience in the construction industry.
Preferred
- Bachelors degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field
- Experience ProCore, SmartBid, BlueBeam, Excel, Outlook and Word
- Proven experience as a Construction Estimator with a focus on senior-level responsibilities
- Familiarity with EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) or similar business framework
- Proficiency in project budget control
- Bachelors degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field
