Job Description
This position requires applicants to possess a current, valid Virginia DCJS (Department of Criminal Justice Services) Armed Guard license.
Open Part-Time (24hrs) position shifts:
Saturday 0700-1500, Saturday 1500-2300, Sunday 1500-2300
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Valentis Protective Security Officer (PSO) is responsible for providing armed security services at our client site, maintaining guard booth services, and conducting random foot patrols in and around the specific site area. PSOs may be required to respond to incidents and other situations as needed. The PSO is responsible for identifying and handling security threats, unsafe conditions or hazards, and/or other emergency situations. Working environments and conditions may vary based on the climate seasons.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Applicants must possess a current valid Virginia DCJS (Department of Criminal Justice Services) Armed Guard license.
- Applicant must have a current valid driver’s license.
- A minimum educational level of a high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must be able to handle and prioritize multiple assignments, and write effective, concise, and legible reports.
SPECIAL CONDITION
Candidates are required to successfully pass a series of pre-employment physical and live fire readiness tests, achieve same passing marks semi-annually, and participate in all ongoing training to meet Protective Security Team requirements.
Candidates MUST travel to Pittsburgh, PA, for one week of QRS training. If you can not travel to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania for four straight days of training, please do not apply.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Foot and static post assignments are required to ensure the safety and security of the client, their staff, and visitors.
- Proactively engages in security performance duties for maximum visibility and threat deterrence.
- Actively seeks and engages in learning and development opportunities to ensure peak performance by completing and/or demonstrating the following: Applies newly learned knowledge and skills on the job.
- Shares information with others that may benefit from his/her expertise.
- Seeks coaching and feedback to ensure high performance.
- Composes, files, organizes and maintains documents, forms, reports, and other related information as needed.
- Accomplishes specific work tasks on site to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of duty assignments.
- Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compiles information as necessary or as directed and provides data to appropriate personnel.
- Exhibits the ability to professionally interact with all individuals in a courteous manner, and is able to de-escalate potentially unsafe, hostile situations.
- Performs tasks that are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or redesigned depending upon individual circumstances.
- Maintains a suitable work location environment (i.e., office, vehicle, post) and general orderliness.
