Duties & Responsibilities
  • Surgical Instrumentation: Expertly handle, prepare, and organize the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary for obstetric surgical procedures and emergency cesarean sections.

  • Sterile Field Vigilance: Maintain constant, unwavering vigilance over the sterile technique, ensuring a safe and infection-free environment for every patient.

  • Surgeon Anticipation: Demonstrate a deep understanding of the specific surgical procedures being performed to proactively anticipate and meet the needs of the surgical team.

  • Collaborative Care: Work closely under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, or Registered Professional Nurse to support seamless operating room flow.

  • Quality & Patient Safety: Ensure high-quality patient care throughout the operative experience by strictly adhering to hospital safety guidelines, universal precautions, and departmental standards.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Surgical Technology Pathways: Must meet one of the following state-mandated criteria:

    • Graduate from a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited program and holds/maintains a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential.

    • Successful completion of a military surgical technology program.

    • Grandfathered status (verified cumulative employment as a surgical technologist for at least 1 year within a healthcare facility during the designated regulatory window).

    • Current active service within the federal government, performing duties related to that service.

  • Credentials: Active Certification through a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization (e.g., Certified Surgical Technologist - CST).

  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Desired Qualifications
  • Specialized Experience: Prior hands-on experience as a Surgical Technologist—ideally within a Labor & Delivery or acute care hospital setting—is highly preferred.

Location and Work Type
  • Work Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire Permanent Position.

  • Shift Information: Predictable Night Shift schedule (6:00 PM – 6:00 AM), consisting of 13 shifts per month, including rotating weekends and holidays.

  • Work Setting: On-site within a high-volume, fast-paced Labor and Delivery unit.
