DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a County Social Services Aide, you will assist and receive training from professional social services personnel in providing services to children, youth, and families. Aides provide practical support like helping with transportation, daily living tasks, and simple clerical work. Your responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:


  • Appointment Assistance: Schedule, transport, and escort clients to various appointments, foster homes, court hearings, and for recreation purpose; contact clients who fail to keep appointments
  • Daily Life Skills: Assist clients and families with everyday activities of living, home maintenance and care, and completing paperwork; distribute and deliver equipment, clothing, and other belongings to clients; supervise children during office hours
  • Communication: Provide basic information to clients and the community; notice family problems and share information with professional social services workers and supervisors to help find solutions; keep confidentiality
  • Clerical and Office Support: Pickup, sort, and deliver mail; answer the phone, take messages; file, copy, and type documents; keep waiting and visiting rooms clean, maintained, and welcoming


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Graduation from high school; or
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Clearfield County. If no eligible candidates who live within Clearfield County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
