Business Planner - Digital Commerce (Contract)
OverviewWe are seeking a Business Planner to support a high-impact digital commerce team focused on driving in-season business performance, demand forecasting, and inventory optimization. In this role, you will partner closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment across sales, inventory, and financial plans while supporting a fast-paced, data-driven retail environment.
This is a 3-month contract role supporting a backfill within a highly collaborative planning organization.
What You'll DoIn this role, you will help drive in-season business execution and planning alignment across digital commerce channels. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting demand planning and in-season forecasting activities across digital business channels
- Assisting with weekly and monthly business performance tracking, reporting, and analysis
- Partnering with cross-functional teams including merchandising, buying, finance, and consumer teams
- Supporting Open-to-Buy (OTB) reconciliation and inventory planning activities
- Identifying risks and opportunities within seasonal performance and recommending actions to optimize outcomes
- Contributing to markdown, promo, and inventory optimization strategies
- Ensuring accuracy and consistency across planning data, tools, and reporting systems
- 3+ years of experience in business planning, merchandise planning, demand planning, or supply/inventory planning
- Strong understanding of planning fundamentals including forecasting, inventory management, and in-season analysis
- Experience working in fast-paced, data-driven retail or e-commerce environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret large data sets
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver against tight deadlines
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present insights clearly to cross-functional partners
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment
- Advanced Excel required
- Experience with planning and reporting tools such as SAP, Tableau, Power BI, or similar systems preferred
- Strong comfort working with data, reporting, and business performance dashboards
- Prior experience in large-scale retail, apparel, footwear, or digital commerce environments
- Experience supporting in-season planning or merchandising operations
- Exposure to omni-channel or e-commerce business models
- Experience working with cross-functional merchandising and finance teams
