Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Technician – Day Shift (Food Processing Facility) 4am-4pm
Job Description
The Industrial Maintenance Tech plays a key role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment within a food processing facility. You will start on the day shift for training and then transition to the night shift, ensuring that machinery operates safely and efficiently while adhering to OSHA standards and food safety regulations. This position combines preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and new equipment installations in a fast-paced, multi-shift environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on production machinery and mechanical systems to minimize downtime and support continuous operations.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve equipment issues involving electrical circuits, mechanical components, hydraulics, pneumatics, and HVAC systems.
- Read, interpret, and update wiring diagrams and electrical schematics to support accurate and safe repairs and modifications.
- Work safely with high-voltage, 3-phase electrical systems and equipment up to 480V.
- Apply knowledge of AC/DC electrical theory, motor control centers, transformers, PLCs, and Allen-Bradley components to maintain and improve equipment performance.
- Use hand tools and other maintenance equipment to complete repairs, installations, and adjustments on motors, pumps, conveyors, packaging machines, and related systems.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA and National Electric Code standards in all maintenance activities.
- Prioritize and respond to multiple critical maintenance issues that impact production output and facility safety.
- Communicate effectively with leadership and team members regarding work assignments, equipment status, and any issues affecting production.
- Maintain accurate logs and records for preventive and predictive maintenance programs, including documentation of repairs and parts used.
- Support facility upkeep by assisting with building maintenance, including cleaning, painting, structural repairs, plumbing, and basic welding as needed.
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of new production equipment, including packaging machines and related systems.
- Ensure food safety by following all company safety policies, sanitation procedures, and regulatory requirements while performing maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate with production and facility teams to minimize disruptions, improve equipment reliability, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform a mix of new machine installs, preventive maintenance, and repairs to existing equipment on a day-to-day basis.
Essential Skills
- 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience in a food processing or similar production environment.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical issues safely up to 480V, including 3-phase systems.
- Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance and repair of industrial machinery and mechanical systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Demonstrated experience in maintenance repair and facilities maintenance within a manufacturing or processing plant.
- Ability to read, interpret, and update wiring diagrams and electrical schematics.
- Knowledge of AC/DC electrical theory, motor control centers, transformers, and PLC troubleshooting.
- Experience working with motors, drives, and motor control equipment, including Allen-Bradley components.
- Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting for industrial equipment and control systems.
- Ability to perform basic welding and plumbing tasks in support of maintenance and facility repairs.
- Experience installing new production equipment, including packaging machines and related systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
- Ability to use hand tools and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
- Comfort working with boilers and related utility systems, or willingness to learn.
- Ability to work night shifts following initial day-shift training, including regular overtime.
- Clear, professional communication skills to coordinate with management and production teams.
- Consistent work history demonstrating reliability and commitment in maintenance roles.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Previous maintenance experience in a food processing environment is highly valued.
- Experience with facility maintenance, including building maintenance, cleaning, painting, and structural repairs.
- Experience in HVAC systems within an industrial or processing setting.
- Familiarity with facility maintenance programs, including preventive and predictive maintenance systems.
- Experience with packaging lines, conveyors, and automated production equipment.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and respond quickly to urgent maintenance needs.
- Strong attention to detail and a safety-first mindset when working with high-voltage and moving equipment.
- Willingness to work extended hours, including 10–15 hours of overtime weekly as needed to support production demands.
- Adaptability to a fast-paced, multi-shift environment with changing priorities.

Work Environment
This role is based in a food processing facility that operates multiple shifts and runs high-volume production lines. You will initially train on the day shift and then transition to nights, working schedules such as 4:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m.–4:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, with occasional Fridays, or 5:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. or 3:00 p.m.–1:00 a.m. Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays depending on department needs. Expect a hands-on industrial environment with exposure to production machinery, packaging equipment, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC systems, boilers, and high-voltage electrical systems. Regular overtime of approximately 10–15 hours per week is typical to support production demands. You will work in a setting that requires consistent adherence to food safety and safety procedures, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and compliance with all facility rules and regulations.
