Job Description

The Material Handler pulls stored materials for orders and moves them to production or staging areas, using a forklift to load, unload, move, and stack products safely and efficiently. This role supports shipping, receiving, storage, distribution, and delivery activities, ensuring products are correctly packaged, labeled, documented, and supplied to work areas as needed. 1st Shift: 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m

Responsibilities

• Pull stored materials for customer and production orders and move them to designated production or staging areas.
• Use a forklift to safely load, unload, move, and stack materials and products according to orders and supervisor instructions.
• Stack materials in a safe and organized manner at specified warehouse locations.
• Supply production and other work areas with required materials in a timely manner.
• Perform warehouse tasks related to shipment, receiving, storage, distribution, and delivery of products and materials.
• Prepare outbound freight for shipment, ensuring products are packaged, cleaned, and labeled correctly.
• Receive incoming materials and place them into proper storage locations in the warehouse when required.
• Verify that bills of lading and packing slips contain all necessary and accurate information.
• Load finished goods and other products onto trucks in a safe and timely manner.
• Stage finished goods from production in the staging area on shipping docks and determine whether items should be shipped or stored in the proper warehouse location.
• Prepare shipping and receiving paperwork and documentation as needed.
• Notify Customer Service when returned inks or materials are received.
• Weigh and record returned inks and materials, compare them with bills of lading, and notify Customer Service of any discrepancies.
• Operate a forklift to load and unload materials and pallets, and to stage and unload shipments.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment, including cleaning and upkeep of equipment, proper waste disposal, and keeping equipment in safe working order.
• Follow all health, safety, and environmental guidelines, regulations, and company policies.
• Support inventory control practices, including stock rotation and waste prevention.
• Perform additional related duties as required or assigned to complete warehouse and material handling tasks.

Essential Skills

• Experience in shipping and receiving operations.
• Proficiency in material handling, including picking and staging orders.
• Ability to operate a forklift safely for loading, unloading, and moving materials and pallets.
• Ability to read and interpret bills of lading, packing slips, and related shipping documentation.
• Capability to prepare basic shipping and receiving paperwork accurately.
• Ability to follow health, safety, and environmental guidelines, regulations, and company policies.
• Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area and care for equipment.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure correct labeling, packaging, and documentation.
• Ability to work effectively in a standard manufacturing and warehouse environment.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience using SAP or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems for inventory, shipping, or receiving.
• Experience using FedEx shipping applications or similar carrier shipping software.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
• Basic understanding of inventory control practices, including stock rotation and waste prevention.
• College coursework or degree is beneficial but not required.

Work Environment

This position operates in a standard manufacturing and warehouse environment on a first shift schedule, typically 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. with a 45-minute lunch break. The role involves regular use of forklifts and other material handling equipment, as well as working around pallets, staging areas, shipping docks, and storage locations. You will use systems such as SAP and FedEx shipping applications to support shipping, receiving, and inventory activities. The work requires moving materials, working around loading docks and trucks, and following established safety and environmental guidelines at all times.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chino, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
