Job Description
As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for lifting and moving large rolls of foam, loading and unloading materials, and ensuring the accurate distribution of products and supplies within various departments. Your role is crucial in maintaining the flow of materials based on production schedules and ensuring the quality and accuracy of inventory.
Responsibilities
- Lift and move large rolls of foam (carpet padding).
- Load and unload materials, products, and supplies from trucks, trailers, and production areas.
- Stage, move, and distribute materials to appropriate departments based on production schedules.
- Verify material quantities, product identification, and order accuracy.
- Perform visual inspections of raw materials and finished goods, removing damaged or non-conforming material as needed.
- Doff packages, handle rolls, fiber, and packaging materials as required by department needs.
- Maintain proper knowledge of tube cores, packaging materials, raw stock areas, and finished goods locations.
- Operate material handling equipment as assigned (manual carts, pallet jacks, forklifts if certified).
- Support multiple departments including Production, Lamination, Shipping, Maintenance, and Warehousing.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in all material handling zones.
- Read and interpret production schedules, work orders, and loading documentation.
- Follow all lock-out/tag-out procedures and safety protocols.
- Report unsafe conditions, damaged inventory, or equipment issues promptly.
- Communicate effectively with team members and leadership to ensure smooth material flow.
- Assist with inventory counts, tracking, and basic material documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- General labor experience in production and quality control.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret work instructions and documents.
- Ability to perform basic math functions.
- Capability to lift up to 80lbs regularly.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain.
- Strong commitment to safety.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Comfortable working in hot, noisy, or physically demanding environments.
- Minimum 6 months of hands-on mechanical experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.

Work Environment
The role operates on a first shift, Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Work takes place in both indoor and outdoor environments, with swamp cooling provided during the summer. The environment includes exposure to production equipment, dust, heat, noise, and moving machinery. This is a physically demanding role that involves continuous movement, lifting, bending, and standing on uneven surfaces, ramps, stairs, and industrial flooring.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
