Job Title: CNC Lathe Machinist

Job Description

This role focuses on operating and setting up a CNC lathe to manufacture and repair precision parts for automated packaging machines. You will work with live tooling and a modern controller to produce high-quality components, using your blueprint reading and CNC machining skills to support efficient and accurate production.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a CNC lathe to turn parts that support the manufacturing and repair of automated packaging machine components.
  • Set up CNC lathes, including installing tooling, setting offsets, and preparing fixtures for production runs.
  • Work with live tooling on the lathe to perform complex machining operations in a single setup.
  • Use the CNC controller to load, adjust, and run programs to meet production and quality requirements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining processes.
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure parts meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Make necessary adjustments to machine settings, tooling, and programs to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot basic machining issues and collaborate with team members to resolve production challenges.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop standards.
  • Document work as required, including recording setups, adjustments, and production information.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience operating CNC lathes in a production or repair environment.
  • Proficiency in CNC machining with a focus on lathe operations.
  • Ability to set up CNC lathes, including tooling, workholding, and program adjustments.
  • Experience working with live tooling on CNC lathes.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills, including understanding dimensions, tolerances, and machining symbols.
  • Ability to use a CNC controller to run and adjust machining programs.
  • Solid understanding of machining processes, shop safety, and quality standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with CNC programming or making program edits on the machine is a plus.
  • Experience in machining parts for automated or industrial equipment is beneficial.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with other technicians and engineers.
  • Willingness to learn and grow into advanced technical or programming responsibilities.

Work Environment

This is a second-shift position, working Monday through Friday from 2:35 p.m. to 12:45 a.m. The shop is temperature-controlled, providing a comfortable and consistent work climate throughout the year. The facility features a brand-new, spacious front office area and a roomy production floor designed to give you ample space to set up and run your work efficiently. You will work in a modern machining environment with CNC lathes, live tooling, and up-to-date control systems.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
