Job Description
This 2nd shift Die Setter position supports a precision powder‑metal manufacturing operation that produces components for automotive, industrial, and specialty applications. You will set up and maintain powder metal presses, ensure tooling is correctly installed and adjusted, and verify that parts meet strict quality and dimensional standards. The role requires hands-on mechanical skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot press and tooling issues in a fast-paced production environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up conventional and multi‑action molding presses according to blueprints, control plans, and production requirements.
- Tear out and remove existing tooling, install new dies, and ensure proper fit and alignment for powder metal presses.
- Fill hoppers with metal powders and adjust press settings to achieve required compaction and dimensional accuracy.
- Set up, adjust, and install dies, punches, and tooling components to support scheduled production runs.
- Monitor press operation throughout production to maintain consistent part quality and density.
- Inspect dies, punches, and tooling for wear, defects, and alignment issues, and take corrective action when needed.
- Perform in‑process quality checks using calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify that parts meet specifications.
- Handle metal powders, organize tooling, and prepare equipment to support efficient production flow and quick changeovers.
- Troubleshoot press malfunctions, alignment issues, and density inconsistencies during operation to minimize downtime and scrap.
- Conduct routine cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs as part of preventive maintenance on presses and tooling.
- Document setup parameters, production data, and quality results to support traceability and continuous improvement.
- Follow all company safety procedures, including lockout/tagout practices, to maintain a safe work environment.
- Collaborate with engineering and supervisory staff to optimize die performance, improve processes, and reduce scrap.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and equipment reliability.
- Assist in training new operators on proper die setup, press operation techniques, and basic troubleshooting.

Work Environment
This role is based in a machine and manufacturing shop environment focused on powder metal component production. You will work on 2nd shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The setting involves operating and maintaining conventional and multi‑action molding presses, handling metal powders, and working around machining and tooling equipment such as lathes, manual mills, and CNC machines. The environment is production-oriented, with a strong emphasis on safety procedures, equipment care, and adherence to quality standards.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $68640.00/yr.
