Job Title: Manual Machinist
Job Description
Join a large service and repair shop specializing in reciprocating compressors and valves for refineries as a Manual Machinist. This role involves making parts for compressors, valves, and engaging in injection molding. You will be responsible for machining piston rings, packing cases, packing rings, cups, and flanges, with part sizes varying based on machine usage and repair requirements.
Responsibilities
- Machine components such as piston rings, packing cases, packing rings, cups, and flanges.
- Operate primarily horizontal lathes, with potential use of vertical lathes (VTLs), vertical mills, or horizontal boring mills (HBMs) based on experience.
- Read and interpret blueprints to ensure precision in manufacturing.
- Measure components accurately using tools like calipers and micrometers.
- Maintain close tolerances and attention to detail.
Essential Skills
- 10+ years of manual machining experience.
- Proficiency in using lathes and mills.
- Ability to work with blueprints.
- Exceptional measuring skills using manual tools.
- Experience with horizontal boring mills and vertical turret lathes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in making parts for compressors and valves.
- Knowledge of working with a large range of part sizes and exotic metals.

Work Environment
the workplace is a large modern facility with various subsidiaries. The shop floor is climate-controlled and well-ventilated, featuring top-of-the-line equipment. You will work alongside five other machinists in a collaborative environment that includes assembly, QC, and S&R departments. The standard working hours are 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday, with potential for 10-hour shifts and Saturday work during busy periods. Dress code includes steel-toe shoes, jeans, work shirt, and safety glasses.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pearland, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
