Job Title: North Austin Environmental Services (EVS) Technician
Job Description
This role focuses on maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary hospital environment by thoroughly cleaning patient rooms, discharge rooms, and public areas. The EVS Technician supports patient care and safety by following strict sanitation standards and completing a variety of housekeeping and janitorial tasks throughout a busy medical facility.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize patient rooms, including occupied and discharge rooms, according to established hospital protocols and sanitation standards.
- Clean and maintain public areas such as lobbies, hallways, waiting areas, restrooms, and other common spaces within the hospital.
- Wipe down and disinfect high-touch surfaces, furniture, fixtures, and equipment to help prevent the spread of infection.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in patient rooms and public areas to maintain a clean and orderly appearance.
- Collect, remove, and properly dispose of trash, recycling, and soiled linens from patient rooms and common areas.
- Handle and transport laundry and other materials safely and in accordance with hospital guidelines.
- Follow all safety, infection control, and sanitation procedures to support a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Respond to cleaning requests and perform additional housekeeping tasks as needed throughout the shift.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced hospital setting and adapt to changing priorities and cleaning needs.
- Support a 24/7 hospital operation by working assigned shifts and participating in a rotating weekend schedule.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of housekeeping or janitorial experience.
- Experience in a hospital or hotel environment is preferred.
- Comfort working in a medical setting where exposure to blood, trauma, and other medical situations may occur.
- Ability to lift and push 50–75 pounds as part of daily duties.
- Ability to stand and walk for 6–8 hours per day in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Reliability in following schedules, procedures, and assigned tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in high-traffic, customer-facing environments such as hotels or large facilities.
- Comfort interacting in a hospital environment with patients, visitors, and medical staff.
- Willingness to learn and follow hospital-specific cleaning and infection control protocols.

Work Environment
This position is based in a busy hospital setting that operates around the clock and requires working in a very fast-paced environment. You will work either a 2nd shift (3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.) or a 3rd shift (10:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.), including a rotating weekend schedule to support 24/7 operations. The role involves frequent walking, standing for most of the shift, and performing physically active tasks such as lifting and pushing 50–75 pounds. You will work in patient care areas, public spaces, and support areas where cleanliness and adherence to strict sanitation and safety standards are essential

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.50/hr.
