Labor & Delivery / Postpartum / Mother-Baby RN – Critical Access Hospital
Unit OverviewProvides comprehensive care for:
- Labor & Delivery (L&D)
- Postpartum (Mother-Baby)
- Newborn Care
- Antepartum Patients
- Obstetric Emergencies
- Laboring mothers
- High-risk and low-risk pregnancies
- Postpartum mothers
- Newborn infants
- Mother-Baby couplet care patients
- Monitor labor progression and fetal well-being
- Assist with vaginal deliveries and C-sections
- Provide immediate newborn assessment and stabilization
- Perform postpartum assessments for mothers and infants
- Administer medications and IV therapy
- Support breastfeeding and newborn education
- Educate patients and families on postpartum and newborn care
- Recognize and respond to obstetric and neonatal emergencies
- Document patient care accurately in the EMR
- Fetal monitoring interpretation
- Labor management
- Vaginal delivery assistance
- C-section recovery
- Newborn assessment and care
- Postpartum recovery care
- Neonatal resuscitation support
- IV starts and medication administration
- Emergency obstetric response
- BLS
- ACLS
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring
- STABLE (if required by facility)
