NOW HIRING: FABRICATION ASSOCIATES - MANUAL MACHINING IN NORFOLK, VA!

Position: Fabrication Associate - Manual Machining
Pay: $24.00 - $27.00/hour
Shift: 1st Shift | Monday-Friday
Current Seasonal Schedule (adjusted for heat): 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
Standard Schedule: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
The Lee Group is seeking skilled Fabrication Associates with manual machining experience to join one of our valued clients' Pump Repair Service Center in Norfolk, VA. This is a hands-on machine shop position focused on repair work, custom fabrication, and one-off machining projects in a non-production environment. This is not a CNC machining role.

The ideal candidate will have experience operating manual machine tools such as horizontal boring mills, vertical turret lathes, horizontal lathes, and milling machines. Successful candidates are detail-oriented problem solvers who can interpret technical drawings, perform precision measurements, troubleshoot repairs, and work independently with minimal supervision.

If you enjoy variety in your work, take pride in precision craftsmanship, and thrive in a repair-focused environment where no two projects are exactly alike, we encourage you to apply.

  • Perform incoming and outgoing inspections of components and completed work.
  • Operate overhead cranes and perform rigging activities safely.
  • Support pump teardown, repair, assembly, and rebuild activities.
  • Complete all required production, inspection, and repair documentation accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications of Fabrication Associates - Manual Machining
  • Approximately 5 years of manual machining experience preferred.
  • Experience operating manual lathes, mills, boring mills, VTLs, and similar machine shop equipment.
  • Strong blueprint reading and technical drawing interpretation skills.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments and working to close tolerances.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair components rather than strictly performing repetitive production machining.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Welding experience is a plus but not required.
  • Apprentice and junior-level candidates with strong foundational machining skills may be considered.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements of Fabrication Associates - Manual Machining
  • Work is performed in a machine shop environment that is not climate-controlled.
  • Schedule adjustments may occur seasonally due to environmental conditions.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting required.
  • Regular use of machinery, overhead cranes, and industrial equipment.
  • Exposure to noise, moving mechanical parts, and typical manufacturing conditions
  • Must be able to safely lift, move, and position materials and components as required.
  • Must follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
Compensation
