Our client is seeking a Structural Engineer (PE) to support building projects across the commercial, industrial, and institutional sectors. This role leads structural design efforts, coordinates with multidisciplinary project partners, and provides mentorship to junior engineering staff. The ideal candidate brings strong technical design skills, proficiency with Revit, and experience delivering projects from schematic design through construction administration.

Responsibilities:

Structural Design & Technical Execution

  • Prepare structural studies, calculations, reports, and construction documentation.
  • Develop design criteria, perform IBC/code reviews, and ensure compliance with applicable standards.
  • Lead structural design for building projects across all phases, including schematic design, design development, and construction documents.

Project Coordination & Documentation

  • Oversee drawing production, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate directly with architects, MEP engineers, contractors, and clients.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawing reviews, and other construction administration tasks.

Field Work & Construction Support

  • Conduct field surveys, site evaluations, and construction observations.
  • Document field conditions and provide engineering recommendations as needed.

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor junior engineers and support staff.
  • Support project scheduling, budgeting, and workflow planning.
  • Recommend design improvements, tools, and technologies to enhance project delivery.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil/Structural preferred)
  • Proficiency with Revit for structural modeling and documentation.
  • Strong communication, organization, and technical writing skills.
  • Experience performing IBC/code reviews and establishing design criteria.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • 4–6 years of structural engineering experience focused on building structures.
  • Experience preparing construction documents, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Strong understanding of structural systems, load paths, and building materials (steel, concrete, masonry, wood)

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with AIA MasterSpec or similar specification tools.
  • Prior experience mentoring junior engineers or overseeing workflow.
  • Experience with commercial, industrial, institutional, or renovation projects.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis software such as RISA, RAM, ETABS, STAAD, or similar.

Work Environment:

  • On‑site office environment with periodic field visits.
  • Combination of desk‑based design work and on‑site construction observations.
  • Ability to perform site walks, climb stairs/ladders, and navigate active construction areas.
