Job Summary:The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) at our inpatient clinical research site is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients participating in clinical research studies. The LVN will collaborate with the research team to ensure the successful implementation of clinical trials, maintaining strict adherence to study protocols while delivering compassionate and comprehensive patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Deliver direct nursing care to patients, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and assisting with daily activities.
- Research Support: Support the implementation of clinical research protocols by assisting with patient screening, enrollment, and follow-up. Collect and accurately document study data.
- Clinical Procedures: Perform routine clinical procedures such as blood draws, ECGs, and other sample collections as required by the study protocol.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about study participation, procedures, and care plans. Ensure patients understand and adhere to study requirements.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including electronic medical records (EMR) and study-specific documentation. Ensure all documentation is completed promptly.
- Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all regulatory and institutional guidelines, including GCP (Good Clinical Practice) and HIPAA regulations. Assist with preparation for audits and inspections.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the research team, including physicians, nurses, and study coordinators, to ensure seamless patient care and study conduct.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, providing appropriate interventions and reporting as required.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing education to enhance clinical skills and knowledge related to clinical research and patient care.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduation from an accredited LVN program.
- Licensure/Certification: Current and valid LVN license in Texas.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in an inpatient or research setting.
- Skills: Proficient in clinical procedures and patient care. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Attributes: Compassionate, detail-oriented, and committed to patient safety and care. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies.
