Position Overview

The Cashier is the friendly face of Gram’s Grocery Outlet. This role is responsible for providing excellent customer service, accurately processing transactions, and helping maintain a clean, organized, and positive store environment. Ideal candidates are honest, dependable, personable, and passionate about serving the community.

The Grocery Stocker plays a key role in keeping our store well‐stocked, visually appealing, and easy for customers to navigate. This position is responsible for receiving deliveries, stocking shelves, rotating products, and maintaining clean and organized aisles. Ideal candidates are detail‐oriented, efficient, able to perform physically demanding job from time to time, and passionate about supporting the community through quality service.

Key Responsibilities

• Customer Service — Greet customers warmly, answer questions, and provide helpful assistance throughout their visit; answer phones; and be courteous and respectful in all interactions.
• Cash Handling — Operate the cash register, process payments, handle returns, and ensure accurate transactions.
• Product Knowledge — Stay familiar with store products, discounts, and promotions to better assist customers.
• Team Collaboration — Work closely with team members to support stocking, bagging, and customer flow during busy hours.
• Loss Prevention — Follow store policies to ensure safety, accuracy, and inventory protection.
• Product Stocking — Stock shelves, coolers, and displays with incoming products while ensuring accuracy and organization.
• Inventory Rotation — Follow FIFO (First‐In, First‐Out) practices to maintain freshness and reduce waste.
• Receiving Deliveries — Assist with unloading trucks, checking in products, and organizing back‐stock areas.
• Store Presentation — Build attractive displays, maintain clean aisles, and ensure products are easy for customers to find.
• Customer Assistance — Help customers locate items, answer basic product questions, and be courteous and respectful in all interactions.
• Safety & Cleanliness — Keep checkout areas clean, organized, and fully stocked with bags, receipt paper, and supplies. Maintain other areas for store cleanliness: restroom, aisles, shelves, front of store, etc. Keep work areas clean, follow safety guidelines, and report any hazards or damaged products.
• Loss Prevention — Follow store policies to ensure safety, accuracy, and inventory protection.

Qualifications

• Ability to remain off cell phone during work hours
• Previous cashier or retail experience preferred, but not required
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, and standing for long periods
• Comfortable working in a fast‐paced environment
• Reliable, punctual, responsible, and team‐oriented
• Basic math and cash‐handling skills
• Previous stocking, warehouse, or retail experience preferred, but not required
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Basic understanding of inventory rotation and product distribution
