The R&D Lab Technician supports product development by compounding formulas for internal testing and customer projects while ensuring strict adherence to established procedures and quality standards. This role maintains accurate records, manages lab inventories, and upholds a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
- Compound formulas for internal testing and for customer-specific projects according to established procedures.
- Perform batch formulation in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and HACCP guidelines.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels of ingredients, chemicals, and laboratory supplies to support ongoing lab activities.
- Accurately document all formulations, test results, and lab activities in required records and logs.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area in accordance with GMP standards and lab protocols.
- Use a calculator and basic math skills to measure, weigh, and calculate quantities for formulations.
- Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to support lab operations and project timelines.
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced R&D laboratory environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong proficiency in math and the use of a calculator for measurements and calculations.
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately in a laboratory setting.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in recordkeeping.
- Ability to multi-task and manage several assignments simultaneously in an R&D lab environment.
- Ability to follow SOPs, GMPs, and HACCP guidelines accurately and consistently.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related scientific field is a plus.
- Laboratory experience in the food industry is a plus.
- Culinary or beverage experience is a plus.
- Prior experience working in an R&D lab or similar laboratory environment is beneficial.
- Interest in product development and food science is highly desirable.
This is a full-time, on-site role in a laboratory setting, working Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The position is based at a dedicated R&D facility where you will work with laboratory equipment, ingredients, and chemicals under GMP and HACCP guidelines. You must be able to wear a respirator when required for specific tasks. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, with a structured process-driven culture. The role starts as a 3-month contract-to-hire opportunity, with sick time provided during the contract period and fully paid benefits upon conversion to permanent employment. The position offers a stable schedule and the opportunity to grow into a long-term role in product development.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
