Position Overview


We are seeking a Licensed Mechanical Engineer (PE required) to lead mechanical and plumbing design efforts within a growing in-house engineering team. This role supports healthcare, institutional, and commercial projects and is responsible for producing stamped construction documents and coordinating multidisciplinary building systems.

The ideal candidate will work closely with electrical, architectural, and external engineering teams to deliver fully coordinated HVAC and plumbing system designs across all project phases.

Healthcare project experience is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and stamp mechanical and plumbing construction documents across all project phases
  • Perform HVAC system design including load calculations, equipment sizing, and system selection
  • Design plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary, storm, and gas systems
  • Coordinate mechanical systems within BIM (Revit) environment
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers on power, controls, and BAS integration
  • Prepare mechanical specifications and review submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings
  • Conduct site visits and support construction administration
  • Ensure compliance with mechanical, plumbing, energy, and building codes
  • Support proposals and client meetings when needed
  • Help establish internal mechanical standards and design workflows
Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (Masters preferred)
  • Active PE license (Mechanical PE required)
  • 7+ years of HVAC and plumbing design experience in AEC environment
  • Strong experience with Revit and AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of mechanical/plumbing codes and energy standards
  • Strong communication and coordination skills
Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare or institutional project experience
  • Experience with medical gas systems and infection control ventilation
  • Familiarity with BIM coordination in multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience working as sole in-house mechanical engineer
Work Environment

Collaborative AEC environment working with architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors. Includes both office-based design work and occasional site visits.
