A large, acute‑care healthcare organization in Peoria, Illinois is seeking an experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join a high‑volume diagnostic imaging team. This role supports cardiac, general, and specialized nuclear medicine procedures in a fast‑paced clinical environment.
Position Overview
- Permanent, full‑time opportunity
- Perform cardiac, general, and special nuclear medicine procedures
- Independently operate nuclear medicine imaging systems, including dynamic, planar, SPECT, and SPECT/CT
- Prepare, measure, and administer diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals
- Collaborate with physicians and clinical teams to ensure accurate, high‑quality imaging studies
- Maintain compliance with state, NRC, DOT, and IEMA regulations
- Review and verify physician orders; communicate with providers to clarify exams as needed
- Perform patient consultations, verify medical history, medications, and allergies
- Explain procedures clearly to patients and families to ensure understanding and cooperation
- Perform IV insertions and administer radiopharmaceuticals using sterile technique
- Prepare and operate nuclear medicine scanners and associated computer systems
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly quality control checks on imaging and radiation equipment
- Maintain accurate records for radioactive material receipt, usage, storage, and disposal
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and escalate concerns appropriately
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure proper stocking of supplies
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Serve as a point of contact for nuclear medicine–related questions from clinical staff and patients
- Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program
- ARRT (N) or NMTCB certification
- Active Illinois Nuclear Medicine license (IEMA)
- BLS certification
- Minimum 1 year of nuclear medicine experience (new graduates considered if licensed)
- Strong knowledge of radiation safety, isotope handling, and regulatory compliance
- Experience using EPIC EMR preferred
- Ability to work independently with strong organizational and critical‑thinking skills
- Day shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- 40 hours per week
- No call requirements
- Salary range: $39.13 – $51.21/hour
- $20,000 sign‑on bonus (commitment details to be confirmed)
