DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position plays an important role in supporting patient treatment through planned therapeutic and leisure activities. The work involves designing programs, assessing patient needs, and working closely with a team of professionals to support individualized care. As a Therapeutic Activities Worker, you will perform the following duties:

  • Program Planning: Design therapeutic and leisure activities that support patient treatment goals
  • Patient Assessment: Evaluate patient strengths and needs to guide activity planning
  • Team Collaboration: Work with treatment team members to coordinate and adjust care plans
  • Activity Leadership: Lead individual and group activities that promote engagement and skill building
  • Documentation Tasks: Record patient participation and maintain required program records
  • Safety Compliance: Maintain activity areas in a safe condition and follow all hospital policies

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, rotating weekends and holidays as assigned, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree with major coursework in therapeutic recreation; physical education; vocational rehabilitation; vocational education or counseling; art, music, dance, or occupational therapies; or a related human services field; or
  • Four years of experience providing therapeutic activities for individuals with physical, medical, or cognitive disabilities; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires you to possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
