THE POSITION

As a Roadway Programs Technician 2 with the Department of Transportation, you will play an important part in keeping county maintenance operations efficient and well supported. You will help organize information, track materials, and assist with financial and planning needs. Your work will support smooth operations and informed decision making. This position offers a strong path for professional growth within our county maintenance programs.



DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports county maintenance operations by helping coordinate purchases, track materials, and gather data for planning and budgeting within Chester County. You will play an important role in keeping information organized and ensuring resources are available. As a Roadway Programs Technician 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Coordinate Purchases: Manage orders, bids, and material availability for maintenance projects
  • Track Inventory: Monitor stockpiles, maintain records, and support SAP inventory processes
  • Support Planning: Gather data for budgeting, work plans, and performance reports
  • Assist Operations: Help evaluate maintenance activities and prepare charts, graphs, and reports
  • Manage Materials: Perform purchases involving equipment, fuel, services, utilities, and building/grounds maintenance
  • Provide Backup: Support other county staff when needed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,907 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Roadway Programs Technician 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience in analysis of data utilized in planning and scheduling of work, materials and equipment, and an Associate's Degree in the field of Business Administration, Computer Science, Highway Engineering Technology or closely related program; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
