Job Summary

Team leader with a high degree of knowledge in the overall field and recognized expertise in specific areas; problem-solving frequently requires analysis of unique issues/ problems without precedent and / or structure. May manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources, functions with a high degree of autonomy and limited direction.

This senior analyst position supports clinical information systems aligned with UC Davis Health goals. This position is responsible for analysis, design, implementation, maintenance and high-level technical support of assigned clinical applications. This position will exercise initiative, originality and judgment in applying established principles and practices to new and unusual problems. Incumbent collaborates with technology infrastructure teams to assess and support application.

Collaborates with faculty in the hospital departments and clinics, implementing and supporting specialized, complex distributed clinical information systems and multiple complex ancillary/patient care systems. Incumbent has the responsibility for supporting large, complex and/or unique projects that affect multiple departments and will include product analysis and assessment, recommendation, implementation, testing and roll-out of new technologies.

This position required high degree of knowledge in the ancillary/downstream clinical application's life cycle management. Incumbent will perform complex clinical systems problem-solving and frequently conduct analysis of unique issues/problems without precedent and/or structure.

  • Experience working with interfaced/integrated multi-vendor applications preferred.
  • Experience supporting, implementing, or optimizing a Blood Bank Information System (BBIS) or similar transfusion management platform, including system configuration, workflow design, testing, validation, and ongoing application support in a regulated clinical environment.
  • Experience working with transfusion medicine workflows, including compatibility testing, blood product inventory management, product issue and transfusion documentation, with an understanding of operational processes within a hospital Blood Bank or Transfusion Service.
  • Experience supporting interfaces and integrations between BBIS platforms, laboratory information systems, and enterprise EHR environments, including troubleshooting data flow issues, validating results transmission, and ensuring reliable interoperability across clinical systems such as Epic Beaker or other LIS platforms.
  • Experience supporting clinical laboratory or pathology information systems, including requirements analysis, system build/configuration, workflow optimization, testing, go-live support, and ongoing maintenance of healthcare information systems.
  • Experience working with integrated multi-vendor clinical applications, laboratory analyzers, and medical devices, including device connectivity, data transmission, and workflow integration to ensure accurate and timely clinical data exchange.
  • Experience participating in complex clinical system implementations, upgrades, or major enhancements, collaborating with cross-functional teams including laboratory leadership, clinical stakeholders, IT teams, and vendors throughout project planning, testing, validation, and go-live activities.
  • Experience gathering clinical and operational requirements and designing reports or data extracts to support laboratory operations, regulatory compliance, quality monitoring, and clinical decision-making.
  • Clinical laboratory experience in a hospital Blood Bank or Transfusion Service, such as experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or related laboratory role, is highly desirable.
  • Experience and knowledge of device integration with clinical applications
  • Experience with analysis, build, implementation and support of healthcare information systems, workflows, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience working with clinical information systems or system implementation teams for complex projects and/or application development
  • Advanced knowledge of clinical laboratory and transfusion medicine workflows, including blood product management, compatibility testing processes, and regulatory compliance requirements within hospital laboratory environments.
  • Advanced ability to analyze complex clinical and operational workflows and translate requirements into effective system configuration, technical solutions, and optimized application workflows.
  • Demonstrated skill in troubleshooting and resolving complex application, interface, and integration issues, including the ability to quickly diagnose problems and implement effective solutions in highly integrated healthcare environments.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory and accreditation requirements impacting laboratory and transfusion systems, including standards from organizations such as the AABB and College of American Pathologists.
  • Advanced ability to collaborate with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders, translating technical concepts into clear communication and ensuring alignment between IT solutions and clinical needs.
  • Ability to serve as a technical leader and subject matter resource for assigned applications, providing guidance on system design, enhancements, upgrades, and emerging technologies within the clinical applications environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, stakeholder expectations, and complex project timelines, ensuring successful outcomes across multiple initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to support system testing, validation, quality assurance, and change management processes in highly regulated healthcare environments.
