Certified Nursing Assistant II (NA II) - Outpatient / Day Surgery

JOB SUMMARY

The NA II, working under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse, is responsible for administering directpatient care and performing any other duties deemed necessary to assure optimal patient care.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

1.Assumes direct patient care responsibilities as assigned by a licensed nurse. Assist all healthcare providers withroutine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergencysituations. Demonstrates professionalism and flexibility necessary to function in the healthcare environment.

2. Demonstrates active listening and provides emotional support to patients and families. Aids patientsin realityorientation, provides informal support to patients/families, andprovides assistancewith potential aggressivepatients. Ensure that emotional and safety needs of patients are met.

3.Provides assistance topatients and their families during admission, transfers and discharge of patients. Anticipatespatient's needs. Assist in maintaining the patient environment. Respects andprovidespatient confidentiality. Assistother staff incompletion oftheir duties. Seeks guidance as needed.

4. Demonstrates proper performance of skills reflected and validated by the unit specific orientation/skills checklist.Usesstandard precautions and principles of infection control.

5. Observes, collects, and documents patient information obtained while providing care and promptly reportsignificant changes in the patient's condition to a registered nurse.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• High school or equivalent. Graduate from approved school with CNA Certification

• CNA II from NCBON

• BLS Certification

• Knowledge of medical terminology

Preferred

• CNA experience in a hospital setting.
