Superintendent - Life Science/Mission Critical
Location: San Francisco, CA
Salary: $135K-$225K base (salary depends on experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead on-site execution for life sciences, mission-critical, public works, or tenant improvement projects. The Superintendent will be responsible for daily field operations, schedule and budget management, quality assurance, safety compliance, and coordination with clients, design teams, and subcontractors. This role focuses on delivering complex tenant improvements and ground-up construction in biotech, pharmaceutical, medical, and mission-critical laboratory environments to meet program, regulatory, and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and manage daily on-site construction activities for life sciences and other commercial projects, ensuring work aligns with plans, specifications and schedules.
- Supervise subcontractors, craft labor, and site personnel; enforce quality standards and work sequence to meet project milestones.
- Develop, monitor, and control the project schedule; proactively identify delays and implement recovery plans to meet critical path items.
- Monitor and control project cost and productivity on site; review and document daily logs, labor, equipment and material usage; support change order development.
- Coordinate with project management, design teams, commissioning agents, and clients to resolve technical issues, RFIs and field changes promptly.
- Manage site logistics, including deliveries, laydown areas, access control, protection of finishes, and security for mission-critical spaces.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent with proven experience leading life sciences projects, mission-critical, public works, or tenant improvement projects (biotech, pharmaceutical, clinical, or laboratory facilities).
- Proven ability to manage Tenant Improvement and Ground-Up projects; experience with Design-Build delivery is highly desirable.
- Experience on Mission Critical, Biotech, Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, Medical, Pharma, Hospital, Commercial, Lab, Data Center, Industrial, Public Works, High-Rise, Educational, Expansion/Addition, Hospitality, Municipal, Retail, K-12 projects is a plus.
- Familiarity with clean room construction, GMP requirements, HVAC/filtration systems, and commissioning activities for lab environments.
