Lead Superintendent

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Superintendent to oversee on-site operations for multi-family and commercial construction projects. The Lead Superintendent will ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget and to quality standards while serving as the primary on-site leader and mentor to senior and subordinate superintendents. This role requires strong leadership, construction expertise, and the ability to coordinate subcontractors, trade partners and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day field operations across multi-family and commercial projects, ensuring schedule adherence, cost control and quality execution.
  • Supervise, mentor and provide direction to Senior Superintendents and site staff; develop site teams and resolve field-level issues promptly.
  • Develop, maintain and drive detailed project schedules and phasing plans; coordinate sequencing of trades and materials to meet milestones.
  • Enforce and promote strict safety standards and site housekeeping; ensure compliance with company safety programs and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors and inspections; manage subcontractor performance and contract deliverables.
  • Review construction drawings, submittals, RFIs and change orders; communicate clarifications and directives to field teams and project management.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, quality control checks and punch-list walkthroughs to uphold construction standards.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily logs, progress reports, safety records and as-built information; provide regular updates to project leadership and clients.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects and owners to resolve design or schedule issues and support successful project closeout.
  • Implement construction best practices and continuous improvement initiatives on-site; facilitate efficient resource allocation and materials management.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Lead Superintendent and/or Senior Superintendent on multi-family and commercial construction projects.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible construction field experience with demonstrated leadership and project delivery success.
  • Strong knowledge of multi-family construction systems, commercial building methods, means and methods, and reading/interpreting construction drawings.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage project schedules, coordinate multiple trades, and drive on-site productivity.
  • Demonstrated experience enforcing safety and quality standards and managing site safety programs.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with owners, subcontractors and project teams.
  • Proficient with common construction tools and software for scheduling, documentation and reporting; able to maintain accurate field records.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel between job sites as required.
  • Nice to have: experience with Public Works projects, OSHA 30 certification, and proficiency with Procore project management software.
