Job Description:

A professional caregiver who plans, provides, and directs patient care and teaching, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with patient care standards and physician orders. The nurse acts as a liaison between physicians, patient and family, and collaborates with other health care members, assisting in orientation of new personnel and participating in committees. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age groups according to specific chronological age, developmental age, and/or psycho-social maturity.

Responsibilities:

• Conducts a comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessment of the patient according to established standards, including the assessment of safety and educational needs.
• Participates in the establishment of a collaborative plan of care based on the assessment data with all other involved disciplines and communicates this plan of care as appropriate.
• Implements and evaluates the plan of care based on identified patient goals and intended outcomes, modifying the plan based on reassessment of the patient's status.
• Completes all documentation according to established standards and utilizes established documentation tools appropriately.
• Assesses the readiness of the patient and significant other to learn and implements the individualized education plan according to need.
• Actively participates in Department of Nursing or unit-based initiatives, such as providing in-service opportunities or volunteering for committees and task forces.
• Provides age-appropriate care for the specific population served as detailed by the organization.
• Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.

Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and current licensure by Ohio State Board of Nursing.
• At least 3 years of experience working in OB, Postpartum, and/or L&D.
• Current license by the Ohio State Board of Nursing.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
• STABLE certification.
