This assignment offers flexible scheduling, strong clinical support, Epic EMR, and the opportunity to join a busy community emergency department with consistent physician coverage needs beginning August 2026.

Emergency Department Overview

• Approximately 25,000 Annual Visits
• 21 Emergency Department Beds
• 75-Bed Community Hospital
• Approximately 2 Patients Per Hour
• Physician and APP Coverage Model
• Strong Internal Medicine and Cardiology Backup
• Epic EMR Platform

Schedule Options
Physician Coverage

• 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM
• 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM

APP Coverage

• 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
• 2:00 PM – 2:00 AM

Coverage needs currently exceed 30 physician shifts per month, allowing significant scheduling flexibility based on provider availability.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Evaluation, stabilization, treatment, and disposition of emergency department patients
• Management of acute medical and traumatic presentations
• Emergency procedures within physician competency
• Supervision and collaboration with Advanced Practice Providers
• Participation in emergency response activities and codes
• Epic documentation and order management

Program features include:

• Physician and APP coverage model
• Internal Medicine backup
• Cardiology support
• Community hospital environment
• Efficient transfer pathways to higher-acuity regional centers when needed
• Consistent emergency department volumes

Requirements
Preferred

• Board Certified or Board Eligible ABEM or AOBEM

Also Accepted

• Board Certified Family Medicine Physician (ABFM) with Emergency Medicine experience

Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS

Family Medicine physicians must maintain ACLS and ATLS certification.
Additional Requirements

• Active Louisiana License or ability to obtain
• Minimum 3 years of Emergency Medicine experience preferred

Credentialing

• Temporary Privileges Available
• Facility will process pending Louisiana licenses
• Approximately 30 days for temporary privileges
• Approximately 60 days for full privileges
