Job Title: Hospital Trash Porter (EVS)
Pay: $15.00 per hour
Penmac Staffing is hiring a dependable Hospital Trash Porter to support the Environmental Services (EVS) team at a local hospital in Springfield. This full-time role plays an important part in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Hospital Trash Porter Responsibilities
- Run scheduled trash routes throughout floors 1–7 and lower-level trash chutes
- Collect, transport, and properly dispose of general waste, recyclables, and biohazard materials
- Ensure proper separation of waste streams, including sharps containers and biohazard bags
- Follow all infection control policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Keep waste collection and holding areas clean, organized, and sanitary
- Perform routine checks on carts and equipment before use
- Assist with light janitorial duties as needed
- Report spills, safety hazards, or maintenance concerns promptly
Requirements for the Hospital Trash Porter
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous janitorial, housekeeping, or EVS experience is a plus
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods
- Must follow strict safety, infection control, and confidentiality procedures
- Must be willing to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check
- Strong reliability, communication, and teamwork skills
Schedule for the Hospital Trash Porter
- Full-time position
- Monday through Friday with every other weekend required
- 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM shift
- Minimum of 2 weeks of training before working independently or rotating weekends
