Resident Assistant

The Resident Assistant promotes a safe, supportive, and recovery-oriented environment while assisting residents with daily living activities, program compliance, and achievement of treatment and recovery goals.

This position serves as a positive role model and supports residents in developing independent living skills, maintaining recovery, and successfully transitioning to community living.

Resident Support

• Provide daily support and encouragement to residents in accordance with individualized service plans.
• Assist residents with developing independent living skills, including budgeting, meal preparation, personal hygiene, and household responsibilities.
• Foster a positive, respectful, and recovery-focused living environment.
• Support residents in achieving personal, educational, vocational, and recovery goals.

Facility Supervision

• Monitor resident activities and ensure compliance with program rules, policies, and expectations.
• Conduct routine room inspections, wellness checks, and facility rounds.
• Maintain accurate resident census and occupancy records.
• Monitor visitors and ensure facility safety and security procedures are followed.

Documentation and Reporting

• Complete shift notes, incident reports, and other required documentation accurately and timely.
• Document resident progress, concerns, behavioral observations, and significant events.
• Communicate relevant information to supervisors and treatment team members.

Crisis Intervention and Safety

• Respond appropriately to resident emergencies, crises, and behavioral concerns.
• Assist with de-escalation and crisis intervention using approved techniques.
• Report suspected abuse, neglect, safety concerns, or policy violations according to organizational procedures.
• Follow all emergency preparedness and safety protocols.

Program Support

• Facilitate or assist with resident meetings, recovery groups, and recreational activities.
• Encourage participation in treatment services, support groups, and community resources.
• Assist with transportation coordination and appointment reminders as needed.
• Support resident orientation and intake procedures.

Collaboration

• Work closely with case managers, counselors, peer support specialists, housing staff, and other team members.
• Participate in staff meetings and trainings.
• Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times.
