This role focuses on generating and evaluating lab-scale samples to support customer technical programs, process and product research, and manufacturing operations. The Laboratory Technician conducts testing, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment, and provides accurate data and documentation to support technical and production decisions while adhering to all safety and procedural guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Generate and evaluate lab-scale samples to support customer technical programs, process and product research projects, and manufacturing support initiatives.
- Conduct testing on samples to assess properties and performance, providing clear and timely data for further technical and business decisions.
- Troubleshoot and maintain laboratory and production-related equipment used for routine processing, property evaluation, and machine scale-up work.
- Maintain accurate and organized logs, notebooks, and other records, including electronic documents and computer-based data files.
- Perform internet and other information searches to support technical problem solving and process optimization.
- Carry out stoichiometric calculations for production using computer programs or manual hand calculations, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Understand and follow Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and Responsible Care rules, regulations, and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
- Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, prioritizing work to meet deadlines and support technical and manufacturing needs.
- Collaborate effectively with multiple technical supervisors and interface with manufacturing and research personnel to support ongoing programs and initiatives.
- Interface directly with customers when needed to support technical inquiries and ensure product quality expectations are met.
- Provide timely and accurate results to help assure the quality of products shipped to customers.
- 1–3 years of experience working in a laboratory or as a Laboratory Technician or Lab Tech.
- Hands-on experience in a laboratory environment, including sample preparation, testing, and data recording.
- Ability to understand and follow Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Strong skills in troubleshooting and maintaining laboratory and processing equipment.
- Ability to perform stoichiometric and related calculations accurately using computer programs or hand calculations.
- Proficiency in maintaining detailed logs, notebooks, and electronic records in an organized and accurate manner.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with more than one technical supervisor and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to interact professionally with manufacturing and research personnel and, when required, directly with customers.
- Commitment to following Responsible Care rules, regulations, and guidelines to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
- Experience supporting manufacturing operations through laboratory testing and analysis.
- Familiarity with standard laboratory SOPs and best practices in a lab or manufacturing support setting.
- Comfort using computer systems for data entry, documentation, and technical calculations.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to conduct effective internet and literature searches for technical information.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in testing, documentation, and calculations.
- Effective communication skills to share results and collaborate with technical, manufacturing, and research teams.
The role is based in a laboratory setting that closely interfaces with manufacturing and research environments. The Laboratory Technician works with lab-scale processing and testing equipment, as well as tools used to support machine scale-up activities. The position involves following defined EHS procedures, SOPs, and Responsible Care guidelines to ensure a safe and compliant workplace. Work typically includes handling samples, operating and maintaining laboratory instruments, performing calculations using computer programs, and documenting results in both paper and electronic formats. The environment emphasizes collaboration with technical supervisors, manufacturing staff, and research personnel, and may occasionally involve direct interaction with customers to support product quality and technical inquiries.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
