Assignment Type: Temp-to-Perm
Schedule: Monday – Friday
7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
The Manual Machinist will manufacture, repair, and rebuild industrial pump components using manual machining equipment and precision measuring tools. This role requires experience operating manual lathes, mills, VTLs, and horizontal boring machines while maintaining tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
The ideal candidate has strong blueprint reading skills, machining experience, and the ability to independently complete precision repair and machining work with minimal supervision.
Key ResponsibilitiesManual Machining & RepairSet up and operate manual machining equipment including:
VTLs (Vertical Turret Lathes)
Horizontal Boring Mills (HBM)
Horizontal Lathes
Milling Machines
Drill presses and grinders
Manufacture and repair industrial pump components using blueprints and work instructions
Support pump teardown, inspection, rebuild, and final assembly activities
Perform machining operations including turning, boring, drilling, threading, and facing
Measure and inspect components using:
Vernier calipers
Micrometers
Precision measuring instruments
Hold tolerances within .0005”
Verify finished components meet specifications and quality standards
Complete incoming and outgoing inspections
Prepare machines for fabrication and repair operations
Select tooling, speeds, feeds, and cutting depths based on specifications
Align fixtures, materials, and components properly before machining
Monitor machine operation and adjust settings as needed
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, and production schedules
Perform shop math calculations and layout work
Properly complete machining and inspection documentation
Operate overhead cranes and perform rigging safely
Follow all safety procedures related to machining, rigging, cutting, and material handling
Maintain clean and organized work areas
Support safe transportation and movement of equipment and materials
5+ years of manual machining experience required
Experience operating manual lathes, mills, VTLs, and boring machines
Strong blueprint reading and shop math skills
Experience with precision measuring instruments
Ability to independently complete machining and repair work
Strong troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude
Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment
Experience with industrial pump repair and rebuilds
Welding experience is a plus
Experience operating overhead cranes and rigging equipment
Knowledge of repair machining practices and fabrication techniques
Manual machining experience
Blueprint and drawing interpretation
Precision measurement & tight tolerance machining
Pump repair and mechanical troubleshooting
Manual lathe and milling machine operation

Pay Details: $27.00 to $26.00 per hour
